James qualified as a solicitor with Herbert Smith in April 2000 and joined the Corporate Broking department of Charterhouse Securities (which was subsequently acquired bby by ING), where he worked on various IPOs, fundraisings and acquisitions, including the IPOs of Robert Walters and Carphone Warehouse.
He joined Dowgate Capital Advisers in June 2003 and led a wide range of transactions, principally on AIM and the Official List. Among these were a £23m fundraising and $84.5m acquisition for Clyde Process Solutions, a £28m equity fundraising and an £80m acquisition for InterBulk Group.
James co‐founded Cairn in 2009 and manages a portfolio of clients across a range of sectors. Most recently, he advised Venn Life Sciences Holdings plc on its reverse takeover by Open Orphan and eEnergy Group plc on its admission to AIM and fundraising.
